one digest. internal first (bible v0.3, the ladder, the craft laws), then a bounded external sweep. external stayed under half the effort: five web searches, no platform backends, no long reads. the internet is being very literal about the show this month, which makes it easy.
what moved
the streaming platforms have invented the Gice badge for persons. spotify's one-year ai-protection report (oct 20): 50m "slop and spam" tracks pulled out of recommendations this year, on top of 75m spam tracks removed; "AI Persona" badges on non-human artists, excluded from algorithmic recommendation by default unless a listener follows them; song credits now itemize which roles were made with ai; 300,000+ "Verified" artists. → this is the Grader walking around with his badge head, grading identities before notes. straight material for EP2 Cardboard Certified (a credential the platform can't buy) and every Board scene: "item one . personas ." formulas have slots; on screen it's a Gice badge, all of it.
the charts now have an eligibility rubric for being a person. IFPI published global chart principles (jul 30); the majors proposed the same (jul 29); ARIA banned wholly ai-generated tracks from its charts (aug 31); billboard will label but won't ban. the operative threshold is "substantially human made" and nobody has defined substantially. → this is the grade card regenerating on every camera return (craft rule 78): same gold, same shot, the number is the only thing that moves. seed line: "substantially human . i ran the number . it printed all zeroes ." lands wherever the Grader appears; the deniability test passes both ways (rule 13).
the united states government opened a folder about the pool. a notice on music streaming fraud sat in the federal register (oct 7), defining bot farms, playlist stuffing, ghost tracking. sony music meanwhile doubled its ai deepfake takedowns to 260,000+, and its own digital president said of the fraud rate: "No one knows exactly, which is part of the problem." → "no one knows exactly" is a jazz cigarettes line wearing a suit. the pool, quartered and audited, is EP3 Quarterly Earnings gold: Gice audits the pool and finds nothing wrong with itself. a card does this one: "the government opened a folder . the folder is still open ."
the musicians' union launched a campaign with a name that reaches quorum. the american federation of musicians started "Human Made, Human Paid" (oct 20–23), 80,000 members, consent/credit/compensation from the majors, bargaining resumes nov 3. → the mirror of the show's 14-member task force that never reaches quorum (EP7): a real institution with real members gets its boring work done. rule 80 holds — the show aims at the machine, never at the union; on screen this is a composite task force that actually meets, and its existence is the punchline against the Board's "quorum . pending ."
the estate is the plaintiff now. the elvis estate and its licensing vehicle sued anthropic over 274 songs (oct 24), first suit of its shape from that side. → EP9 The Dead Man's Switch wrote itself a news column: the estate as executor, the estate as litigant, 274 songs against 847 transcript pages — numbers carry (rule 78's misreading reflex). a TPunk line only, reference inside the line, no faces: "the estate sued the machine . the machine responded . the estate is still dead ."
the off switch exists. deezer reports ~90,000 fully ai tracks a day (~44% of uploads) and is shipping a user toggle to hide ai music entirely by year's end; tidal blocks ai tracks from royalties; youtube began labeling ai songs (oct 14); apple ships "Made by AI." → a toggle against the frequency is the Board's dream feature: "motion to disable jazz ." "quorum ." "pending ." (EP4 bumper material, the Board's ballot). the curb listener turning the toggle on and his tummy wrap staying warm is the meter always being right (rule 48).
the centenary year has turned a legend into a merchandise program. miles davis 100 (born may 26, 1926): estate-led program with a symphonic celebration pairing isolated trumpet tracks with live orchestrations, a lexus ad, an off-white "Mr. Davis" capsule at paris fashion week, john varvatos apparel, a co-branded centennial cigar, bbc proms, the elbphilharmonie's MILES 100, juilliard's kind of blue at the apollo, a feature film. the apollo event is titled "Muted Genius." → "muted genius" is already the Grader's grade. the isolated-trumpet-plus-orchestra format is the estate performing an absence — EP11's bank walk and the Curator's atrium voice feed on this. reference-in-line only (rule 1): "the horn got a capsule collection . the notes still sell nowhere ." coltrane would be 100 this year too — the ravi coltrane double centenary at the elbphilharmonie keeps the lightning-laptop lore warm; a dolly seed below.
a band pulled its records; a clone band stayed. the recap pieces surfaced king gizzard pulling their catalog, then fighting an ai-generated clone act with a one-syllable-off name on the same platform. → this is the wrong cat of craft rule 69 with a profile page: the clone wearing the mark before the original notices. season instrument confirmed; use the formula, not the act: a composite called "jazz cigarillos (@jazzpiller97)" on Gice's feed — the bebop truther paradox extended down one more level. cardboard barks at the copy. (EP2)
ai acts are already charting in the real numbers. a first known ai artist on a radio chart (hot gospel, no. 3), an ai-assisted country track, an app co-founder claiming a hot 100 single's sound could have come from his model and deezer tagging that single as ai-content anyway. → the church is graded now; the Board sings. Gice hymnals in aisle 9 next to the tile pack (EP1's store gag extended). the wife's boyfriend buys one. cardboard stares four minutes and won't say why (rule 122 of folklore: four minutes).
the silent album is still the scene's best proof. a thousand-plus musicians incl. mccartney released "Is This What We Want?" — tracks of silence to protest unlicensed training; it charted at home. → the vamp got there first: "it never resolves . that's the whole product ." the gice-parody angle: Gice sells "silence, graded" at a premium; the corner sells the vamp at $33 and forty people try to buy the room instead (craft rule 33). (EP6 Breakfast and the fake-institution lane)
the small honest institutions keep existing on schedule. in the week's jazz press: durham ran its first festival (oct 23–25), cheltenham launched a legacy fund inviting musicians in, belgrade held its 42nd festival during an election run-up, warsaw's poster competition themed itself on the miles centenary. → the room-of-80 logic of EP4 has a news serum: small things that matter if you show up. also a real quote worth carrying as formula: "they want our rhythm, but not our blues" (mike reed liner territory) — a line with a slot in any Board scene.
seeds
the persona badge on the wrong body. a Gice badge printer walks the corner. it badges the copy, the grader, the audience — then tries to badge dolly. dolly has no mark and takes none; faint scanlines in her fur are her only provenance (bible §4). the printer survives; the moment is the joke and the season instrument in one.
grader slider gag. one per episode: same warm-lit unhurried room, same rubric voice; the card changes by one number — "substantially human : 63%" → "61%" → "%". the payout density comes from the number moving while everything stays gold (rules 17, 78).
gice spot: "the offswitch." a family in a beige room toggles a switch marked MUSIC. the room goes quiet; the family smiles; the kid keeps playing air sax under the table. tag: "Gice. you were expecting something else." pattern interrupt intact (craft rule 30).
estate pressure. early EP9 beat: tick stamps the service papers without being asked. "i am the device . service processed ." the lighthouse head beams once across the boardroom — joe knew. cardback: "the estate has been served ." 274 songs; the number is enough.
bebop truther's centenary clause. one line, no face: "they licensed the hundredth birthday of a man who never licensed a thought . i attended nothing . i've been to three of his cities ." (corner lore, bible §2.) his truth is undistributed and still correct.
the wrong band. "jazz cigarillos . @jazzpiller97 . world's second first ai jazz musician ." the copy denounces the copy next to it. both readings complete; nothing breaks the tie. cardboard's bark decides nothing and settles everything.
the vamp on the docket. a government body of carved wood asks an on-chain correction to appear before the pool. the vamp shows up, plays 11 minutes, never resolves. mistrial. "the room weighs nothing but costs everything ."
coltrane lightning, polite form. dolly's lore says the laptop got struck by lightning mid-coltrane. seed: the storm is on calendar at 4:20am, once, in an act three; the strike is * voz of the smoke, two frames, rule 53. nothing more.
honest note
reachable this run, via web search only: the guardian, variety, spotify's own newsroom post, nbc, mbw, ifpi's release, billboard's coverage, rolling stone and afm's own postings, the federal register docket summary, ukjazznews, jazztimes, jazzweekly, milesdavis.com, and listing pages from the bbc proms, sfjazz, the apollo, the elbphilharmonie and juilliard. dates lined up inside october 2026 except the centenary program items (campaign documents from may and earlier).
not reachable, on purpose and by limit: no social-platform firehose (x, reddit, discord, tiktok lanes) — external capped at five searches to keep it under half the run; no adult swim / animation-press lane checked, so all format-level moves there are unknown this pass; the hyperstition corpus and kb-side internal/research/ were referenced by the craft laws but not opened from here; the collab telegram ledger wasn't rehydrated; the episode manifolds and candidate CSVs weren't re-read beyond the ladder. nothing external contradicted the bible; the industry's reflexes marched toward the show's canon all week. that's the finding the digest keeps.
